North Glasgow Healthy Living Community Presents:
The 4th Annual North Glasgow 5K Fun Run – ‘ng5k’
SUNDAY 26th APRIL 2009
RUCHILL PARK
FREE ENTRY!
With nearly 2,500 fun runners taking part last April, ng5k is back for a record breaking 4th year! The first event in Glasgow’s running events calendar, ng5k is open to people of all ages and levels of ability – you don’t need to be a serious runner to take part! And unlike other events in the city, ng5k is completely FREE to enter!
You choose how you want to complete the route - run, jog, walk, take part by wheelchair, or push the kids along in their buggy – the real emphasis is on taking part and having a good time! Why not take the opportunity to raise money for your favourite charity, or compete in fancy dress! Whether you're a regular pavement pounder, a complete novice or someone whose trainers are gathering dust in a wardrobe, ng5k is for you! Everyone taking part will receive their very own ng5k t-shirt and winner’s medal.
REGISTRATION
Register online at www.healthynorthglasgow.co.uk or pick up a registration form. Sign up to our online newsletter to receive all the latest ng5k updates including information on jog classes taking place in your area, tips to help you prepare for the event, competitions, and loads more. The event was officially launched earlier this month at Firhill stadium with a little help from Partick Thistle Football Club’s star players Liam Buchanan and Lucas Akins, alongside pupils from St. Josephs Primary School.
GET READY
The event will be at full capacity this year with an estimated 2,500 entrants expected on the day. The event kicks off at 9.30am with the ‘ng5k Warm Up’ led by students from North Glasgow College to make sure everyone is geared up and ready to go in time for the main event at 10am. The route will take participants along the roads surrounding Ruchill Park with plenty of on route entertainment to help keep the fun runners in high spirits!
ng5k is also home to the ‘Health & Wellbeing Village’ hosted by a wide range of local health organisations and community groups who will be on hand to offer participants free advice, information as well as the opportunity to sample FREE 'taster' sessions in sports massage, delicious fruit smoothies and free healthy recipes to take away. A whole host of other FREE fun activities and attractions are planned inside the park from 9am till 1pm to keep the crowds entertained
